Tip Calculator
The Tip Calculator works out a fair gratuity on any bill and splits the total evenly between your group. Enter the bill amount, the tip percentage you want to leave and the number of people, and it shows the tip, the grand total and exactly how much each person pays.
How tipping maths works
A tip is a percentage of the bill added on top as a thank-you for service. The full amount you pay is the bill plus the tip, and when you are in a group you usually divide that total by the number of people so everyone contributes fairly.
The formula
Tip = Bill × Tip% ÷ 100. Total = Bill + Tip. Per person = Total ÷ Number of people. This calculator does all three steps at once so you never have to reach for your phone's calculator at the table.
A worked example
A meal costs 60, you want to leave 15%, and there are two of you. The tip is 60 × 15 ÷ 100 = 9, the total is 69, and each person pays 34.50. Change the group to three and each share drops to 23. Round up to the nearest whole number if you want to leave a slightly more generous tip.
Tipping tips
Customs vary widely by country: in some places 15 to 20 percent is expected, in others service is included and tipping is optional. Check whether a service charge is already on the bill before adding a tip on top, so you do not pay twice. For large groups, restaurants sometimes add gratuity automatically.

Why use this tool
Finance Wave built the Tip Calculator to be genuinely useful: it validates your input so you never see a broken result, formats numbers for your region automatically, and stays readable in both light and dark mode. Because everything happens on your device, it is private by design and keeps working even without an internet connection once the page has loaded.
