Age Calculator
The Age Calculator tells you exactly how old you are in years, months and days from your date of birth to today or any date you choose. It handles leap years and different month lengths correctly, so the result is precise rather than a rough estimate.
Why age is trickier than it looks
Working out an exact age is not simply today's year minus your birth year. Months have different lengths, leap years add a day, and whether you have had your birthday yet this year changes the answer. A proper calculation accounts for all of that.
How the calculation works
The tool subtracts your birth date from the target date, borrowing days and months where needed. It counts complete years first, then the leftover complete months, then the remaining days, so you get a precise breakdown rather than a decimal approximation.
A worked example
Someone born on 15 March 2000, measured on 30 August 2026, is 26 years, 5 months and 15 days old. The years count is 26 because the March birthday has already passed this year; the remaining months and days are counted from that last birthday up to today. Choose a future date instead to find out how old someone will be on a particular day.
Uses beyond birthdays
An exact age calculation is handy for eligibility checks, work anniversaries, pet ages, project durations and countdowns. Because it works between any two dates, you can also use it to measure the precise gap between events, not just an age from birth.

Why use this tool
Finance Wave built the Age Calculator to be genuinely useful: it validates your input so you never see a broken result, formats numbers for your region automatically, and stays readable in both light and dark mode. Because everything happens on your device, it is private by design and keeps working even without an internet connection once the page has loaded.
